Sutter Solano Cancer Center Earns Accreditation
Sutter Solano Cancer Center has earned a three-year accreditation with six commendations from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons (ACOS). ACOS approval is awarded to centers that have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of quality cancer care and undergo regular evaluations and reviews of their performance.
"The accreditation is a validation of all the outstanding team work and quality care that we provide," says Rachael Albertson, MHA, cancer services director. "It also confirms for our patients that the best cancer care is available right here in Solano County."
Only one in four hospitals earn the prestigious endorsement from ACOS, and over 70 percent of all newly diagnosed cancer patients are treated at accredited centers. To gain ACOS endorsement, Sutter Solano Cancer Center adheres to all Commission on Cancer standards and was subject to a rigorous evaluation process.
Having an ACOS approved program demonstrates Sutter Solano Cancer Center's commitment to providing patients with high quality, comprehensive cancer care, including a multispecialty team approach to best treatment options; access to cancer-related information, education and support, and a cancer registry that collects data on type, stage and treatment results of cancer and offers lifelong patient follow-up.
Sutter Solano Cancer Center has developed a strong reputation for excellence in cancer care and has expanded its program to include prevention, detection, treatment and support services in one convenient location.
