Diabetes Education in Solano County
Sutter Solano Medical Center and the Sutter Regional Medical Foundation, West Division offer several diabetes education classes and programs.
Diabetes Self-Management Program
The ADA certified Diabetes Management Program consists of glucometer education, a series of three educational classes, and an individual session with our certified diabetes educators—a nurse educator and a registered dietitian.
Note that a physician referral is required.

Diabetes Academy Education
This is a free educational class open to everyone in the community and is designed especially for people living with diabetes as well as family members and caregivers. A certified diabetes educator discusses nutrition, portion control and how to make smart food choices for better health!

Class includes:
- Diabetes 101: covers the basics, such as diabetes types and risk factors.
- Staying Healthy: provides convenient tips for eating healthy and staying active.
- Insulin 101: explores the basics of insulin, including Novo Nordisk insulin’s, and offers live demonstrations of how to use insulin pens.
- Resources: attendees receive complimentary take-home information on diabetes care.
Diabetes Prevention Workshop
This workshop is lead by a registered dietitian and a certified diabetes educator and focuses on how you can take control of your health and prevent diabetes.
